Deviantart is discussing the AI situation on twitter, live right now. And their defense of the situation is so horrendous that I'm pretty sure I will be leaving this site. - No AI art is not "inevitable". And you have a choice in whether you want to usher it in or not. - Opting OUT of the AI is somehow a legal issue removing user choice but opting IN automatically ISN'T??? Astounding bull crap. - You implemented this so fast you are asking for forgiveness afterwards and that shows how much you care about artists. You implemented it so fast you didn't even think bulk editing would be needed! - "Small team" is not an excuse, then take more time. Or do not implement it. - RJ Palmer, thank you for trying to talk sense to them. - Choosing not to see AI art while there's an AI scraping your things is a cold comfort. - Deviantart, you should have figured ALL of this out BEFORE implementing it! You should have consulted artists beforehand! You have offended people's consent and pretending to

deviantart's AI nonsense

I have stuck by deviantart for 16 years, through all sorts of nonsense, and hooboy I am truly angry. It is simply vile that they have implemented an AI. It is even more so when it is left enabled by default, forcing people to opt out every single one of their deviations (of which there could be hundreds in a long time user's gallery) individually. Implementing an AI of your own that is on by default, and then touting about how you're protecting against third party AI as if it is not the same exact thing, is so double faced it's embarrassing. It is inexcusable. And I hope that people will raise enough fuss to kick this horrendous "feature" to the curb and bury it in a ditch, where it belongs. The anti-AI sentiment among artists has been roiling for months now (for a very good reason) and it is the most tone deaf decision I've seen for an art site to implement an AI. They could be fishing for people fleeing from twitter, bring new life into this place, become more relevant once more

I despise the new notification center so so SO much it is driving me crazy. I don't wanna even come look at this place because I have to do all this extra clicking to get rid of my damn notifications now.
